The next multiplayer mode to arrive on Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be Infection, as teased yesterday through Halo Waypoint by 343 Industries.
The developer for the collection and all future Halo games stated in a post on Halo Waypoint that “The playlist team continues to work on future updates, and it’s quite likely that we’ll be talking about things like Infection in the coming weeks.
The Infection game mode was originally introduced back in Halo 3 in 2007. In the multiplayer mode, one player starts as the ‘infected’ character, and has to infect everyone else through killing all the other players, until there is only one survivor left, who wins the game.
“We’re continuing to keep a very close eye on your feedback through Waypoint, Twitter and elsewhere, and prioritising items within the next update based on said feedback” 343 further stated. “Look for more details as we get closer to release”
It’s highly likely that we could see the announcement of Infection and other Halo-related additions tomorrow during Microsoft’s Gamecom presentation, which is scheduled to begin at 3PM BST.
