Oops. Nolan North may have just inadvertently revealed that Naughty Dog is working on a sequel to the wildly successful The Last of Us. Shock horror.
When asked if he was to be involved on any Naughty Dog projects after Uncharted 4, North replied with “For now, last one” Before adding “I know they’re doing a Last of Us 2 but my character in the Last of Us kind of had an untimely demise”
It’s entirely possible that North is merely speculating on the possibility for a sequel to the Last of Us. Released back in 2013, the game garnered over 200 Game of the Year awards, and is regularly referred to as the greatest game of the last console generation.
Therefore it should be no surprise if Naughty Dog were to be working on a sequel to the game. Expect rife speculation as to whether the supposed Last of Us 2 will return to Joel and Ellie, or whether it’ll follow different protagonists with a different storyline altogether.
For now, I’m going to discount this as hard proof of a Last of Us sequel, as although North is obviously well connected with Naughty Dog, there’s nothing here that definitely confirms that they’re working on said game, particularly with the finishing touches being put on Uncharted 4, and Neil Druckmann being pulled aside to work on the Last of Us film adaptation.
