Ready At Dawn, the developer behind the Order: 1886, has said it would like to be involved in the future of the series, by way of developing a sequel.
While speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Ready At Dawn chief executive Paul Sams and studio founder Ru Weerasuriya have stated among other things that the Order: 1886 was originally conceived as a multi-part story, which is evident given how the game ultimately ends.
“The Order was never written as a one-off story” explained Weerasuriya. “There’s a lot more to tell as you can see from the way the game ends” However given that Sony ultimately owns the Order, Ready At Dawn would have to get the publishers approval to move forward with the series.
“We would love to be a part of building the Order as a franchise” Sams added. It is an IP that we created, that we deeply love and that we believe in. We cannot say any more on the Order at this time”
Both executives also revealed in the interview that the Order: 1886 was well on its way to meeting sales expectations, something that would undoubtedly help Ready At Dawn in gaining the approval needed from Sony to move forward with the series.
When reviewing the game back in February, I gave it a 7/10, saying while stunning visuals and solid character helped the game, it was dragged down by poor pacing and a lack of exciting combat.
